Privacy Policy — Lanternly

This privacy policy applies to the Lanternly app (hereby referred to as the "Application") for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch, created by Ilya Alexandrovich Lobkov (hereby referred to as the "Service Provider"). The Application is a personal diary with an on-device companion.

Summary

• The Application has no user accounts, no registration, and no tracking.
• Your diary entries are stored on your device and, if you enable sync, in your private iCloud database. The Service Provider has no access to them.
• The Application contains no ads, no third-party analytics SDKs, and never sells your data.
• All intelligent features — conversations with the Luna companion, voice transcription, and translation — run entirely on your device.

Data the Application Processes

Depending on which features you use, the Application processes the following data that you provide:

• Diary entries: text, mood, tags, favorites, and journal assignments.
• Media you attach: photos and voice recordings, together with their on-device transcripts.
• Tool data: gratitude notes, letters to yourself, balance snapshots, values, triggers, habits, goals, reviews, decisions, hypotheses, and finance notes.
• Profile data you optionally enter: name, avatar, birthday, and preferences.
• Optional entry metadata you request: weather, place name, and step count.
• Conversations with Luna and the editable "Memory of you" facts derived from them.

Where Your Data Is Stored

All data is stored locally on your device. If you enable iCloud sync, it is also stored in your private iCloud database (CloudKit), which is controlled by your Apple ID. The Service Provider operates no servers of their own and cannot read, access, or export your data. With iCloud Advanced Data Protection enabled, iCloud data is end-to-end encrypted; otherwise it is encrypted by Apple with Apple-managed keys.

On-Device Intelligence

Conversations with Luna are processed by Apple Foundation Models directly on your device. Voice notes are transcribed with Apple's speech recognition in on-device-only mode, and translation and language detection also run locally. The content of your entries and conversations is never sent to the Service Provider or to any third-party AI service.

Permissions

• Microphone and speech recognition — only for recording voice notes and transcribing them on the device, at your request.
• Photos — only to attach pictures you choose to your entries.
• Location — only when you ask to attach weather or a place name to an entry; approximate coordinates are then sent to the weather provider (OpenWeatherMap) solely to fetch the weather. No entry content is ever sent.
• Apple Health (HealthKit) — read-only, with your explicit permission, to verify movement-based habits (e.g., daily steps). Health data is never shared and never leaves your device or your private iCloud.
• Contacts — only if you choose a trusted support contact; it is stored locally.
• Face ID / Touch ID — only to lock the Application; biometric data never leaves the system.
• Notifications — local only (e.g., delivery of a letter to yourself); no push-notification servers are used for content.

Third-Party Services

The Application uses the following third-party services, each with its own privacy policy:

Analytics and Tracking

The Application contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs of any kind and does not track you across apps or websites.

Data Retention, Export, and Deletion

Your data remains yours for as long as you keep it. You can export everything at any time (Markdown, or JSON including media), archive or delete entries and journals in the Application, and remove iCloud data via your device's iCloud settings. Uninstalling the Application deletes all local data. For any questions, contact the Service Provider at dodecaidr@vk.com.

Children

The Application is not directed at children under the age of 13, and the Service Provider does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Not Medical or Therapeutic Advice

Lanternly and the Luna companion are not a medical device, do not provide therapy, diagnoses, or treatment, and are not a substitute for professional help. If you are going through a crisis, the Application will suggest professional support resources; in an emergency, call your local emergency number.

Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be published on this page; continued use of the Application after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
